Our rates
Prices are guides for a typical job — the figure you're actually quoted on the phone accounts for what's gone wrong and where you are, but this is the structure it's built on.
Business Hours Call-Out
£50
Mon–Fri, 8am–6pm
Covers an engineer travelling to you and diagnosing the fault.
Out of Hours Call-Out
£95
Evenings, weekends & bank holidays
Same visit and diagnosis, outside normal trade hours.
Hourly Rate
£100
Per hour, after the call-out
One hour minimum, then billed in 15-minute increments.
Parts and materials are priced separately and always agreed with you before anything is fitted.
Call-out fee, or hourly rate?
The call-out fee is what gets an engineer to your door and pays for the time spent working out what's actually wrong — it applies whether or not you go ahead with a repair, because the travel and diagnosis happen either way. Once the fault is found, any repair is charged at the hourly rate, quoted and agreed before work starts.
For a lot of call-outs that's the whole job: fifteen minutes to find a tripped RCD's cause and reset it safely doesn't need much more than the call-out itself. Bigger jobs — a rewire, a full consumer unit swap — are usually quoted as a fixed price instead, once we've seen what's involved.
Why there are two call-out fees
Business hours cover is cheaper to provide — the engineer nearest you is already on a normal shift. Evenings, weekends, bank holidays and the middle of the night mean someone rostered specifically to be available then, which costs more to run. We'd rather charge that honestly upfront than pretend it doesn't exist and recover it some other way.
If something can safely wait until business hours, we'll tell you so on the phone — we're not trying to book you onto the more expensive rate.
What you won't see on the invoice
- A charge for quoting. Quotations are free, including for planned work that follows an emergency visit.
- A surprise out-of-hours premium. If the out of hours rate applies, you're told on the phone before anyone sets off.
- A number you didn't agree to. If a job runs bigger than expected, work stops and you're given the revised figure first.

Common Questions
How much is a call-out?
£50 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm), or £95 outside those hours — evenings, weekends, bank holidays and overnight. Both figures cover an engineer travelling to you and diagnosing the fault.
Does the call-out fee count towards the total if I go ahead with a repair?
The call-out fee covers the visit and diagnosis; any repair work is charged separately at the hourly rate, quoted once the fault is found and agreed before we start. It applies whether or not you go ahead with the repair, because the travel and diagnosis happen either way.
How is the hourly rate charged?
£100 an hour, one hour minimum, then billed in 15-minute increments after that. You're given a time estimate before work starts, and told immediately if it's going to run over.
What counts as "business hours"?
Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Anything outside that — evenings, weekends, bank holidays, or the middle of the night — is the out of hours rate.
Do parts cost extra?
Yes, priced separately and always agreed with you before they're fitted. The call-out fee and hourly rate cover labour and diagnosis, not materials.
Will the price change once you've started?
Not without telling you first. If a job turns out bigger than expected, work stops and you're given the revised figure before anything further is done.
